IP Authorization
Learn how IP authorization enhances security and how it affects different proxy types.
What is IP Authorization?
IP authorization is an optional security feature available across all Oculus proxy products. While not required, enabling it ensures that only authorized devices or networks can use your proxies. If you choose to authorize a specific network, keep in mind that your proxies will not work on any other network unless additional networks are also authorized.
How IP Authorization Affects Proxy Formats
The impact of IP authorization on your proxy format depends on the type of proxy you are using:
1. For ISP Premium Proxies & Event & E-Commerce ISP Proxies:
-
If you authorize your IPv4 address, your proxy format will switch to host:port instead of host:port:username:password.
-
This change applies only to ISP Premium and Event & E-Commerce ISP plans.
2. For All Other Proxy Types:
- If you are using Shared Datacenter, Dedicated Datacenter, ISP, Rotating Residential, Sneakers Residential, or Tickets Residential proxies, your proxy format will always remain IP:Port:Username:Password, regardless of whether IPv4 authorization is enabled.
Oculus only supports proxy configurations in the host:port format. The commonly used IP:port format is not supported and may result in connection errors. Always use the server’s hostname followed by the port for proper integration.
By understanding and configuring IP authorization, you can enhance security while ensuring seamless proxy access. 🚀
